President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Mark Burnett as the U.S. Special Envoy to the United Kingdom. Burnett, a well-known British-American television producer, gained fame as the creator of the reality show “The Apprentice,” among other hit programs like “Shark Tank” and “Survivor.”
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his honor in appointing Burnett, highlighting his extensive background in both television and business. Trump stated, “Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic skills and international fame to this critical position.”
Burnett, who has also received 13 Emmy Awards and previously served as the Chairman of MGM, is expected to focus on enhancing diplomatic relations between the U.S. and the UK. This includes fostering trade, exploring investment opportunities, and promoting cultural exchanges. Trump congratulated Burnett on his new role, promising to utilize his talents for the benefit of both nations.
Currently, there is no one serving as the U.S. special envoy to the UK, as such positions are often temporary and designate specific missions. However, Trump did not provide further details about the objectives for Burnett’s role.
Earlier in December, Trump appointed Warren A. Stephens to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. In his announcement, Trump praised Stephens for his successful career in financial services and his dedication to philanthropy.
While awaiting further comments from Burnett regarding his new position, Trump’s selections reflect a commitment to strengthening ties with one of America’s closest allies.
