Cori Broadus, the daughter of famous rapper Snoop Dogg, is openly discussing her health struggles. In the first episode of the new E! docuseries titled Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story, the 25-year-old shared her long battle with lupus, which she was diagnosed with at just six years old, and how it has affected her mental well-being throughout her life.
Cori revealed that her illness led her to feel isolated and depressed. "Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been depressed, always wondering, ‘Why me?’" she explained in the December 5 episode. She described how constant visits to the doctor and medication took a toll on her happiness, particularly during the pandemic when she fell into a deep depression.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, and it can be quite challenging to diagnose due to its varied symptoms. Sadly, it has no cure.
In her candid remarks, Cori noted a particularly tough time during the pandemic where she contemplated suicide and ended up in a mental health facility. She credited her fiancé, Wayne Duece, with being her rock during these hard times. "I feel lucky to have Wayne, but we all face tough moments. Healing takes time," she said.
To cope with her struggles, Cori decided to focus on her work. She launched her own cosmetics line called Choc Factory, which she found uplifting. "I told myself, ‘You need to get out of this,’ and that’s when I thought about starting a lip gloss line," she shared.
Throughout the episode, Cori also spoke about managing her lupus and prioritizing her mental health. Recently, she mentioned being off her medication for several months and reported improvement in her health markers, feeling slightly more energetic even though she still experiences fatigue.
Cori has been upfront about her health challenges in the past, including a severe stroke earlier this year that caused her to postpone her wedding plans. She has also shifted towards holistic treatments, such as exercise and natural remedies, instead of traditional medications.
"I’ve felt better than ever going this natural route," Cori said. She explained that she had grown tired of relying on numerous medications since she was a child and wanted to make a change for herself.
Cori emphasized that while she has good days and bad days—like anyone else—she remains grateful for her ability to pursue her passions and share her story. Through her journey, she highlights the difficult realities many face but conveys hope and resilience.
