New York City police have found DNA evidence linked to the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The sample is currently being tested at the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s office, but details about the type of sample and its origin have not been disclosed.
According to reports, the DNA was obtained from a water bottle left at the crime scene. Police also found fingerprints on the bottle and bullet casings, which intriguingly had words such as “deny,” “defend,” and “depose” engraved on them. These phrases are reminiscent of the insurance industry’s common strategy of “delay, deny, defend” when handling claims.
Thompson was shot and killed outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel during the early hours of December 4. Authorities have labeled the incident as a targeted attack, although a clear motive has yet to be identified.
Investigators believe that the suspect shown in surveillance footage has strong firearm skills. On Thursday, police released images of a suspect smiling at a hostel on the Upper West Side, where he is believed to have stayed. Disturbingly, this suspect reportedly lowered his face mask to flirt with a hostel staff member, according to various police sources.
