A man from Florida is accused of shooting his ex-fiancée after she ended their engagement. Timothy Hyder, 57, reportedly shot 58-year-old Natalie “Dawn” Du’Mee in the head.
Following the incident, he allegedly asked Du’Mee’s daughter to call 911. He has been charged with first-degree murder linked to Du’Mee’s death.
According to police reports, Hyder and Du’Mee were arguing during a football watch party when she told him she did not want to marry him. The disagreement continued when they returned home, where Du’Mee repeated her decision and returned her engagement ring.
After their argument, Hyder went inside, retrieved his .357 revolver, and went out to the porch where Du’Mee was sitting. He allegedly asked her if she was sure about her decision, and she confirmed that she was.
The affidavit states that Hyder confessed to killing her. Du’Mee’s daughter, who was inside the house, heard gunshots and found her mother bleeding from her head.
Hyder reportedly told the daughter, “It’s over, I blew her brains out,” and instructed her to call emergency services.
When police arrived at their home in St. Cloud early in the morning, they found Du’Mee on the back porch with a gunshot wound. A handgun was also discovered on the kitchen counter.
Hyder claimed to the officers that he wished he could take back what happened and stated he had “snapped.”
The St. Cloud Police Chief expressed condolences to the victim’s family and urged anyone facing domestic violence to seek help from trusted friends or local hotlines.
It remains unclear whether Hyder has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
