A growing group of mothers, often referred to as “crunchy moms,” are expressing excitement over the potential nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. These moms prioritize natural living and are concerned about the effects of modern food practices, including the use of seed oils, and are advocates for breastfeeding and careful vaccination.
Tess Smith, a mom from Texas, shared her enthusiasm for Kennedy’s nomination, stating, “It was just really exciting.” She emphasized the importance of having someone in power who addresses concerns about food safety, environmental health, and the influence of pharmaceutical companies.
According to Smith, the term “crunchy mom” was once used as a light-hearted jab but now represents many women who advocate for a lifestyle focused on natural and holistic health choices. They often scrutinize food labels to avoid harmful additives and seek to minimize toxins in their homes and diets.
Many of these women, like Smith, have reevaluated their political choices. Although she voted for President Biden in the past, Smith switched her vote to support Donald Trump due to his partnership with Kennedy, who is known for his critique of various health issues, including the current state of the healthcare system.
Diana Atieh, another Texas crunchy mom, shared her hopes for Kennedy’s influence on children’s health. She wants to see the removal of harmful food additives and supports accountability for vaccine manufacturers. Atieh said, “It’s so nice to see someone finally in the political arena standing up for our children for once.”
These moms are looking forward to changes that could lead to a healthier future for their families, feeling encouraged by the possibility of having a voice like Kennedy’s in a position of power.
