CHICAGO — In a tragic incident during a house party on the city’s southwest side, eight people were shot, with three of those succumbing to their injuries. The shooting occurred around 2:10 PM in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, causing chaos as attendees fled the scene in panic, according to police and witnesses.
Police Chief Jon Hein stated that the victims included four men and four women, aged between 20 and 35. Among the injured, a 26-year-old man and two other men were pronounced dead. A 27-year-old woman, who was shot in the head, was in critical condition, while a 24-year-old woman, struck six times, was reported to be in serious condition. The remaining three victims, including two men aged 31 and 25 and a 21-year-old woman, were said to be in good condition.
This location is not unfamiliar to law enforcement, as police have previously responded to incidents at the same home. Neighbor El Towers mentioned that parties are frequent at this house. He described hearing at least ten gunshots, followed by the sounds of people running and screaming.
As of now, there are no leads on the suspects responsible for this violent act, nor has a motive been established. Chief Hein assured reporters at the scene that efforts would be made to bring those responsible to justice. The Chicago Police Department has yet to release further updates on the situation.
