SkyDrive Inc., a prominent electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer from Japan, has teamed up with SAI Flight, a private jet charter company located in South Carolina, along with Greenville Downtown Airport. This partnership aims to explore new business opportunities using SkyDrive’s innovative eVTOL aircraft.
The agreement is supported by the Greenville City Economic Development Corporation and the Greenville Area Development Corporation. Together, these organizations plan to enhance air cargo services, air taxis, and emergency services.
James D. Stephens, the airport director at Greenville Downtown Airport, expressed pride in being part of this exciting venture. He noted that this collaboration represents a significant step toward a new age of air mobility in South Carolina. Stephens stated that by joining forces with SkyDrive and SAI Flight, they hope to improve convenience, efficiency, and environmental sustainability for travelers and businesses in the area. This project not only aims to expand their services but also aligns with their goals of fostering economic development within the community.
Moreover, the teams are engaging with local and state governments and businesses to plot various routes for the eVTOL aircraft, including connections between the city center and the Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport.
