SPARTANBURG, S.C. — A serious accident on Monday morning has resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man riding a motorcycle. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bomar Avenue and South Church Street, as reported by local authorities.
According to the Spartanburg Police, a driver in a Nissan Maxima attempted to make a left turn onto Bomar Avenue from South Church Street. Unfortunately, the driver turned directly into the path of the motorcyclist, who was traveling north on South Church Street. This resulted in a collision in the middle of the intersection.
Tragically, the motorcyclist, identified as Billy Keith Stevens, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the incident, the driver of the Nissan has been charged with failure to yield the right of way.
