One person has lost their life and three others were injured in a serious head-on collision in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Monday at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Highway 417, near Chicken Foot Creek Road, which is about six miles north of Woodruff.
Authorities indicated that a 2008 Buick Lucerne was heading north on Highway 417 when a 2008 Kia Sportage SUV traveling south veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Buick. Tragically, the driver of the Kia succumbed to injuries from the crash.
Emergency medical services transported a passenger in the Kia, as well as the driver and a passenger from the Buick, to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released by the coroner’s office.
