A Greenville County judge is set to make a decision on whether to bring a case against a former deputy to trial. This follows a serious incident that took place nearly four years ago, when Deputy Christopher Abercrombie allegedly forced a woman into her home and assaulted her while on duty, in uniform, and armed.
Abercrombie was terminated from his position in October 2020 and was subsequently arrested in February 2021. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, and burglary.
Court documents reveal that Abercrombie’s defense team has requested a summary judgment, seeking to have the case dismissed before it reaches trial.
Updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
