Ben Carson recently addressed the rumors about him potentially joining President Donald Trump’s second administration as the U.S. Surgeon General. In a social media post, Carson clarified that while he is looking forward to speaking with Trump soon, he will not take on the role of Surgeon General.
Carson, who was the secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2017 to 2021 during Trump’s first term, expressed his excitement about discussing ways to support the “America First” agenda with the President. He emphasized that the rumors about his appointment to the Surgeon General position are untrue.
In his post, Carson congratulated Trump on his recent election victory, highlighting their friendship and the importance of working for the country’s future. He stated, “As I said earlier today, God is not done with our country. Let’s get to work.”
The U.S. Surgeon General, although not part of the Cabinet, holds an important position as the leader of the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, which is responsible for overseeing public health initiatives.
Carson’s remarks come at a time when several roles in Trump’s incoming Cabinet remain unfilled, including positions for transportation and commerce secretaries. There has also been no announcement regarding the HUD secretary or other key appointments.
Recently, Trump announced that Chris Wright, the CEO of Liberty Energy, will join his administration as the secretary of energy, describing him as a prominent figure in the energy sector.
