Chloe Kitts Returning to Action for Gamecocks
South Carolina forward Chloe Kitts is set to return to the court on Thursday after sitting out the last game due to an academic suspension. The top-ranked Gamecocks are looking forward to their home opener against Coppin State, where Kitts will join her teammates.
Head coach Dawn Staley confirmed that Kitts, along with the rest of the team, is ready to compete in the upcoming match. Kitts missed the Gamecocks’ victory over N.C. State last Sunday, which they won 71-57, because of an issue related to team academic policies.
In a statement, Staley expressed pride in Kitts’ development both on and off the court. "While she couldn’t play against the Wolfpack, we’re incredibly proud of her progress," Staley said.
Kitts, a 6-foot-2 junior from Oviedo, Florida, was a key player during last year’s undefeated championship season, where she averaged 9.1 points and 5.9 rebounds. She made an impactful start to the current season with a strong performance in the opener against Michigan, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a 68-62 win.
