Ariana Grande is ready to make her mark in the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked.” Her rendition of the well-loved song “Popular” was released online on November 13, generating excitement among fans of the musical.
Grande takes on the role of Glinda, a character that first gained fame through Kristin Chenoweth’s portrayal on Broadway in 2003. The song “Popular” tells the story of Glinda as she decides to help her less popular roommate, Elphaba, who is played by Cynthia Erivo in the film, while Idina Menzel originally brought the character to life on stage.
On the same day, audiences also got to hear Erivo’s version of another song from the show, titled “The Wizard and I.” This song features Elphaba expressing her dreams of meeting the Wizard and how she believes her life will change once she teams up with him.
“Wicked” will hit theaters on November 22, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see how these classic songs translate into the new film.
