A Native American tribe in South Dakota has recently lifted its ban on Republican Governor Kristi Noem, showing support for her nomination to become the Secretary of Homeland Security. This letter of endorsement came from Tony Reider, the president of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, who announced that the tribe’s executive committee had voted to revoke the ban originally placed on Noem in May.
Reider’s letter arrives just days before Noem is set to appear before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for her confirmation hearing. In his correspondence, Reider congratulated Noem on her nomination by President-elect Donald Trump and expressed confidence in her ability to enhance the safety and security of the nation.
