New York police are looking into the death of a private ambulette driver whose body was found in his abandoned vehicle.
The victim, 64-year-old Peter Forrest, was discovered around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, with stab wounds at 201 Castle Hill Avenue. Authorities pronounced him dead when they arrived at the scene.
Officials are treating the case as a homicide, but they have not yet determined the exact cause of Forrest’s death.
Surveillance footage from a nearby residence captured Forrest’s ambulette pulling into a dead end on Castle Hill Avenue. It is unclear whether he was driving or if he was already dead at that time. The video also showed a woman in a dark car approaching the vehicle shortly after it parked. After a brief encounter, she returned to her car but came back to pick up another individual before both departed together.
An employee from Marquis Ambulette spoke about the situation, expressing sympathy for Forrest’s family and calling the incident “terrible.” A neighbor described Forrest as a kind man who would go to work and return home after his shifts.
Later footage revealed another ambulette arriving at the scene after the woman and her passenger left. Additionally, Forrest’s manager used GPS tracking to locate the vehicle when he was unable to contact him, leading him to the scene to investigate.
No details have been released regarding the driver of Forrest’s ambulette, and no arrests have been made at this time.
