A woman in Florida is facing serious accusations after allegedly leaving her 5-year-old son alone in a park as a form of punishment. Reports indicate that Alize Angel Rodriguez, 20, is charged with child neglect and drug-related offenses.
According to authorities, Rodriguez left her son at the park because he was misbehaving. Witnesses reportedly saw the child playing alone for about 20 minutes before they decided to contact the police. When officers arrived, they discovered Rodriguez walking nearby.
Police searched Rodriguez’s purse, which she had reportedly tossed into a bush. They found Xanax pills and loose marijuana inside. While Rodriguez denied using drugs, witnesses claimed she appeared confused and incoherent.
Rodriguez was taken into custody and placed in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, but she is reportedly no longer there. Meanwhile, the 5-year-old was returned to the Miami Beach Police Station, where his grandmother came to take him home.
