A shocking incident occurred in Tremont City, Ohio, where a 12-year-old boy reportedly set his brother on fire using gasoline. This alarming event took place on Saturday evening when a group of children were allegedly playing with the flammable liquid.
Around 8:20 PM, one of the boys poured gasoline on his sibling before igniting it, leading to severe injuries. The injured boy was taken to the hospital, suffering from second- and third-degree burns. Thankfully, his injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.
Authorities noted that both boys were involved in unsafe activities by throwing gasoline at each other and lighting it on fire. Police were alerted to the situation when a 911 call reported that one boy had “got burned on his back really bad” during their play.
After investigating, law enforcement concluded that the act was intentional. The 12-year-old who set the fire has been arrested and faces charges of aggravated arson and felonious assault. He is currently in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Local officials have advised parents to be vigilant and discourage their children from playing with dangerous items such as gasoline. They emphasized that playing with fire poses serious risks and should only be managed by adults. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
