Tori Spelling recently shared a personal story about her past on her podcast, shedding light on a tense situation involving her late co-star Luke Perry. According to Spelling, the incident dates back to the 1990s when tensions flared during a Christmas Eve party.
While discussing the event, the 51-year-old actress recalled how she and Perry stopped talking for several months after a fight broke out between him and her then-boyfriend, Nick Savalas, whom she dated for several years. Spelling described Perry as a protective figure, someone who cared deeply for her like family.
Spelling recounted the incident, stating, “There was an infamous fight that happened at one of the Christmas Eve parties between when I had the bad boyfriend.” She revealed that the altercation stemmed from Perry’s concern over how Savalas treated her. Luke had always looked out for her and couldn’t bear to see her in what he perceived as an unhealthy relationship.
According to her, the conflict escalated when Savalas approached Perry in a tense moment. Though Spelling noted that Savalas may have instigated the fight, she recognized that Perry’s feelings came from a place of love and concern for her well-being. In her words, “Luke couldn’t hide [his dislike]. When Nick would say hi, he would look away and walk away.”
Following the fight, Spelling was understandably upset and did not communicate with Perry for a while while working together on set. Looking back, she realized that Perry was right to intervene on her behalf and was merely trying to protect her from emotional harm.
This reflective moment highlights not only Spelling’s journey of understanding but also the close bond she shared with Perry, who tragically passed away in 2019. She has previously expressed her gratitude for his support during difficult times, emphasizing that he was a true friend who stepped up when it mattered most.
As Spelling reminisces about those days, she appreciates the friendships forged in the often chaotic world of Hollywood, revealing the profound impact that caring friends can have during tumultuous times.
