Get ready for a blast from the past as the iconic character Happy Gilmore is making a comeback! Nearly 30 years after the original film, Adam Sandler will reprise his beloved role in the Netflix sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2.”
On Christmas Day, Netflix surprised fans with a teaser trailer that brings back a wave of nostalgia. In the trailer, Sandler is seen in his classic hockey jersey, putting on the green as if no time has passed since the first film.
Sandler isn’t the only one who will be in the spotlight. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has gained fame for his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift, is making his debut in the film. He opens the teaser with some memorable lines, setting the tone for this highly anticipated sequel. At one point, we see him dressed as a golf club member welcoming Happy back, saying, “It’s good to have you back, Mr. Gilmore.”
The sequel is also bringing in a fresh cast of talent, including Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny, actress Margaret Qualley, comedian Nick Swardson, rapper Kid Cudi, and filmmaker Benny Safdie, who previously worked with Sandler in “Uncut Gems.”
Although Sandler has been tight-lipped about Eminem’s role in the new film, he has hinted that the rapper delivers a memorable performance, filmed in just a single day.
The excitement for “Happy Gilmore 2” has been building since Netflix officially announced the project in May, after Christopher McDonald, known for his role as the arrogant Shooter McGavin, hinted at its development earlier this year. Sandler also returns as a co-writer, collaborating once again with Tim Herlihy, who helped create the original film.
Fans are eagerly awaiting this sequel, which combines humor and heart, promising to deliver entertainment that resonates with both longtime followers of the franchise and new viewers alike.
