SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office recently shared details about the results of Operation Rolling Thunder, which took place in November. This operation brought together various agencies from different counties to tackle drug trafficking on some of the busiest highways.
Sheriff Chuck Wright reported that this year, authorities seized over 300 pounds of marijuana, along with 31 pounds of THC. Additionally, around $100,000 in cash was confiscated during the operation.
Sheriff Wright emphasized the significance of these seizures, noting that about 90 percent of the drugs intercepted were intended for the local area rather than merely passing through. He mentioned the common belief that it’s impossible to win the war on drugs, but he believes that a proactive approach is essential for making communities safer.
Details about the 2024 statistics from Operation Rolling Thunder were also provided, showcasing the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related issues in the region.
