A man from Seneca, South Carolina, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter following a woman’s overdose death last September, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
On September 13, law enforcement was called to Landon Drive where two individuals had reportedly overdosed. An adult male received life-saving measures, while a woman sadly died at the location.
Investigators reported that 48-year-old Stephen Maxwell Bruce sold fentanyl to the victim, which led to her fatal overdose.
Bruce was apprehended on Wednesday on Friendship Road for driving with a suspended license. During the stop, deputies confiscated 2.4 grams of methamphetamine from his vehicle.
He now faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and driving under suspension. A judge has set his bond at $100,000.
This is not Bruce’s first encounter with law enforcement. In 2022, he was arrested after authorities discovered him with narcotics, firearms, and drug paraphernalia while he was in a home with a child.
