A daycare worker in Texas has been taken into custody on serious allegations, including the reported abuse of six young children in her care. Catherine Guziejka, 44, faces multiple charges after investigations revealed she allegedly kicked toddlers more than 100 times over several months.
The troubling situation came to light when one parent was informed of the abuse by another daycare staff member who had viewed surveillance footage of the incidents. The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has since been examining this footage to gather evidence in the case against Guziejka.
According to the sheriff’s report, Guziejka was filmed kicking the toddlers on at least 134 occasions. The abuse reportedly occurred between July and October 2023. One particularly disturbing incident captured on video shows Guziejka kicking a 2-year-old boy while he lay helpless on the floor. In addition, other young children were yanked from their beds during nap time and dragged to changing tables, further raising concerns about their treatment.
Guziejka was arrested on October 30 and is being held on six counts of injuring a child with the intent to cause harm. The daycare where these events took place, known as Punkin’ Doodles Day Care in Lindale, has since changed ownership and plans to rebrand in light of these serious allegations.
This shocking incident has stirred outrage and concern among parents and community members. Many are calling for greater oversight and accountability in childcare facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.
