COLUMBIA, S.C. – In a significant turnout, over 2.5 million voters participated in the 2024 election in South Carolina, setting a new record for ballots cast. This surpasses the previous record of 2,533,000 votes from the 2020 election.
The election results revealed that President-elect Donald Trump received 1,480,673 votes, winning South Carolina’s nine electoral votes. Howie Knapp, the Executive Director of the State Election Commission, highlighted the historic turnout, saying, “South Carolina’s turnout shows the commitment and passion of our voters, along with the improved access provided by our new early voting system. We applaud the more than 2.5 million South Carolinians who took part in this important process.”
