A tragic incident unfolded in Marshfield, Massachusetts, where a Thanksgiving dispute turned fatal. Richard Lombardi, 65, has been accused of killing his 80-year-old roommate, Frank Griswold, during an argument related to the holiday meal.
According to reports, the conflict arose when Griswold entered the kitchen to help with the dishes. Lombardi reportedly became concerned about Griswold standing too close to the food, particularly because he had previously experienced sneezing fits. In a moment of confrontation, Lombardi allegedly shoved Griswold, leading to a fall that caused the older man to hit his head on the floor.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Griswold unconscious and lying in a pool of blood. Emergency personnel were unable to revive him, and he was later pronounced dead.
Lombardi explained to the police that he acted out of worry for the food being contaminated. He claimed that Griswold’s feet became tangled, leading to the fatal accident. Despite these assertions, Lombardi faces serious charges, including assault and battery on a person over 60 causing serious injury, as well as involuntary manslaughter. He has pleaded not guilty and is expected to return to court in early December.
The two men had been friends for nearly 30 years and had shared a home for more than two decades. This tragic event has shocked their community, highlighting how quickly disputes can escalate into severe consequences.
