A tragic incident has occurred at a Maryland prison, where an inmate has reportedly been killed.
Robert Warren, aged 28, was found dead in his cell at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland on November 25. According to Maryland State Police, an autopsy has revealed that his death was a homicide, but the specific cause has not yet been disclosed.
Police have indicated that another inmate is suspected of being involved in Warren’s death. However, the name of the alleged assailant has not been released, as no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The Maryland State Police’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from crime scene technicians and investigators from the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be forwarded to the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be brought.
