The Upcountry History Museum in downtown Greenville is excited to welcome back “White Christmas — The Exhibition” for the second time in just four years. This special showcase offers visitors a glimpse into the beloved 1954 holiday film that features stars like Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Vera-Ellen, and Danny Kaye.
Heather French Henry from the Rosemary Clooney House explained that the exhibition was first displayed during the COVID-19 pandemic when many events were put on hold. The positive response from that showing encouraged the museum to bring it back now that things have returned to normal.
Visitors to the exhibition can enjoy over 60 props, costumes, and memorabilia items graciously loaned by the Rosemary Clooney House in Augusta, Kentucky. These pieces provide a fascinating visual journey into the iconic film, from the famous “Sisters” dresses to items used in famous dance scenes.
“We are always on the lookout for new pieces to add to the exhibition,” Henry said. “Our work with the Rosemary Clooney House spans over 20 years, and we’re continually searching for items that highlight the film. Recently, we acquired a stunning pair of shoes worn by Vera-Ellen during the ‘Abraham’ number, along with several artifacts from the choreographer Robert Alton.”
In addition to the exhibition, the Upcountry History Museum is participating in a program called Operation Waverly, which supports local veterans’ organizations. Funds raised from this initiative will assist the Upstate Warrior Solution in providing gift cards for essentials like gas and food to veterans in the area.
“White Christmas — The Exhibition” will be on display until February 2, 2025. For further details, you can call the museum at 864-467-3100.
