The disappearance of a woman in Oregon has taken a tragic turn, as her husband has been arrested and charged with her murder. Michel Fournier, 71, faces serious allegations following the vanishing of his wife, 61-year-old Susan Lane-Fournier, while she was hiking in Mount Hood National Forest.
Susan was reported missing on November 22 when she didn’t show up for work. Just weeks earlier, on October 31, she had filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” after 12 years of marriage. At the time she went missing, the couple was still legally married.
Search efforts for Susan and her two Malinois-mix dogs began soon after her disappearance but were suspended on November 26. Her vehicle was discovered parked on the side of a road, raising concerns about her welfare.
The investigation took a grim turn when a passerby found a woman’s body along the highway, which was later confirmed to be Susan. Neighbors indicated there had been visible tension between the couple, sparking discussions about the possibility of domestic violence.
Betty Swan-DeLong, a neighbor, noted a growing concern in the community. “They were expecting it; a lot of people talked about domestic violence,” she said, adding that many are now also wondering about the fate of Susan’s missing dogs, Elrond and Elros.
As the investigation continues, the community is left grappling with this tragic situation, seeking answers and hoping for the safe return of the beloved pets.
