The Philadelphia Eagles faced a significant setback on Sunday night when defensive end Brandon Graham suffered a torn triceps injury, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
At 36 years old, Graham reflected on his career, suggesting that this injury might signal the end of his time on the field. He expressed his feelings following the Eagles’ victory, stating that while he wishes to continue playing, “it’s pointing towards that” regarding retirement.
During a post-game interview in Los Angeles, Graham remained composed, but he opened up emotionally in a radio interview later on. He revealed how the injury affected him, saying on WIP radio, “I’m just more hurt on how we’ve been coming every week and trying to defy the odds.” He shared that he needed to express his feelings, saying, “It’s been awhile since I’ve cried, man.”
Graham has been a dedicated player for the Eagles, spending his entire career with the team after being drafted 13th overall in 2010 from the University of Michigan. He played a key role in the Eagles’ success, including their Super Bowl win in 2018. After each game, he has tried to focus on the positives and noted he felt “content” if this were to be his final game, although he still desired to continue his career.
Reflecting on his time with the team, Graham mentioned, “For the 15 years I’ve been here, and people doubting me, this was a big one for me.” He acknowledged that he’s trusting in God’s plan for him.
Graham’s standout moment came in the 2022 season when he recorded 11 sacks, earning him a nomination for the Comeback Player of the Year. Despite the challenges he faces now, his contributions to the Eagles over the years have been significant and memorable for fans and teammates alike.
