The Cleveland Cavaliers continue their impressive start to the season, maintaining their undefeated streak after a hard-fought victory over the Chicago Bulls. On Monday night at the United Center, the Cavaliers emerged victorious with a score of 119-113, improving their record to 12-0.
This remarkable performance makes the Cavaliers the last remaining undefeated team in the NBA and puts them alongside just seven other teams in league history that have begun a season with twelve straight wins. This also marks the best start in franchise history, echoing the Golden State Warriors’ phenomenal 2015-16 season when they began with 24 consecutive wins.
Donovan Mitchell was a standout player for the Cavaliers, scoring 25 points in the first half alone, including five three-pointers. He showcased his skills with an incredible 360-degree layup that left fans buzzing. Despite the Bulls’ starters also performing well, Mitchell’s scoring helped keep the game competitive.
The Bulls briefly gained control in the third quarter, pushing ahead to a nine-point lead. However, the Cavaliers quickly responded with an 11-2 run, reclaiming the lead as they limited the Bulls to just two field goals in the final six minutes of the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, although the Bulls tied the game at one point, the Cavaliers swiftly regained momentum. Mitchell ignited a quick energy shift, leading a 9-2 run that secured the win. He finished the game with 36 points and eight rebounds, shooting 7-of-16 from three-point range. Darius Garland contributed 17 points and five assists, while Evan Mobley added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 26 points, while Nikola Vucevic and Coby White chipped in 20 points each. However, the Bulls struggled with turnovers, giving the Cavaliers 35 points off 20 turnovers throughout the game.
The Cavaliers are set to face the Philadelphia 76ers next on Wednesday, and a win would match the longest winning streak in franchise history. As they continue their unbeaten run, Mitchell and the Cavaliers are proving to be serious contenders in the Eastern Conference.
