CLEMSON, S.C. — Dillon Hunter from Atlanta, Georgia, had an impressive night, scoring a personal best of 15 points as the Clemson University men’s basketball team secured a strong victory over Radford with a score of 79-51 on Thursday in Littlejohn Coliseum.
The Tigers, now with a record of 4-1, were led by Chauncey Wiggins, who contributed 16 points to the win. Ian Schieffelin came close to a double-double, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Chase Hunter added 10 points.
Clemson’s defense was evident, allowing Radford to make only 17 field goals, shooting 30.9 percent overall and just 20 percent from three-point range. In the first half, the Tigers created a solid lead and maintained a 12-point advantage when Chase Hunter hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer, ending the half at 38-26.
As the second half progressed, Clemson extended its lead to more than 20 points, reaching a maximum of 31 points at the end of the game. The Tigers capitalized on 11 turnovers from Radford, scoring 20 points from those mistakes. Four players from Clemson sank multiple three-pointers, contributing to a successful 47.8 percent shooting rate from beyond the arc.
Looking ahead, the Tigers will play again in Daytona Beach, Florida, against San Francisco in the first game of the 2024 Sunshine Slam. The match is scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
Notes: Clemson is now 4-1 this season and has an undefeated record of 6-0 against Radford. This victory marks Clemson’s third win of the season by a margin of 25 points or more. Head Coach Brad Brownell celebrated his 436th career victory and his 269th at Clemson. The Tigers have won three games this season with a shooting percentage of 40 percent or better from three-point range. Chase Hunter has now scored a total of 1,317 career points, moving into 23rd place on Clemson’s all-time scoring list. Dillon Hunter’s 15 points marked his career high with five successful field goals, and he also tied a personal best with two steals. Chauncey Wiggins achieved a season-high of 16 points. Additionally, Viktor Lakhin tied his season record with three blocks.
