With the New York Jets struggling this season with a record of 3-8, the future of their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, remains uncertain. During his weekly chat on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers addressed ongoing speculation about whether he will return to play in 2025.
Rodgers, a four-time MVP, mentioned that he hasn’t made his mind up yet about continuing his career, but he does prefer to stay with the Jets if he decides to play. “I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York would be my first option,” he stated in the interview.
He also dismissed rumors suggesting he might leave the Jets to play for another team next season. “As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anyone I want to play in 2025 but not for the Jets. That’s 100% false. I’m going to wait and see what happens at the end of the season,” he explained, emphasizing that decisions will depend on the team’s new management and coaching.
Rodgers acknowledged that despite the team’s challenges and a rough season, he values his time in New York. He said he has formed great friendships, enjoyed living in New Jersey, and appreciated the support from fans. He remains committed to winning with the Jets, dispelling any notion that he is ready to leave.
The Jets are facing changes, with a new regime likely coming in as they look to improve their performance. Despite the chatter surrounding his future, Rodgers knows that just like the team, he too will have to navigate these changes.
As Rodgers deals with various injuries, including those from his Achilles tear last year, he noted that he feels confident in his ability to assess his physical condition. He shared that while there’s no pressure to undergo scans, he maintains an open dialogue with the Jets’ medical staff about his health.
The Jets, facing the possibility of a 14th consecutive year without reaching the playoffs, are reassessing their direction after letting go of key staff members. As the season continues, both Rodgers and the Jets will need to consider their next steps moving forward.
